CRCB–Canada recovery caregiving benefit Posted on Oct 20, 2020

Who can apply?
 

  • Unable to work at least 50% of scheduled work week because you are caring for a family member
  • Caring for a child under 12 or another family member because their care facility is closed or unavailable due to COVID
  • Or because the person under your care is sick with COVID, self-isolating, at risk of serious health complications if they get COVID as advised by a doctor.

 

How much you can get

  • $500 per household ($450 after taxes withheld)

Periods one can apply for

  • 1-week period at a time. Need to re-apply every week. Each household can apply up to a maximum of 26 periods between September 27, 2020 and September 25, 2021. The 26 weeks do not need to be taken consecutively.

Limitations:

  • Need to be a tax resident of Canada (don’t need to be a permanent resident or Citizen). Need SIN.
  • 15 years old or over.
  • Earned at least $5,000 in 2019,2020 or in previous 12 month before the application date.
  • While receiving benefits under one of the above programs, at the same time is not eligible for : CRB, CRSB, CRCB, short term disability, workers compensation, EI, QPIP.
